The best s.#.e.#.x lasts between 7 to 13 minutes. Yes, a new s.#.e.#.x study carried out by the U.S. researchers has articulated that the optimal amount of time for s.#.e.#.xual intercourse is 3 to 13 minutes.
The study led by Dr. Eric Corty, an associate professor of psychology at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, and student Jenay Guardiani, found that s.#.e.#.x which lasts 7 to 13 minutes “best”; the s.#.e.#.x lasting anywhere from 3 to 7 minutes was listed as “adequate,” and the s.#.e.#.xual intercourse that lasts from 1 to 2 minutes was listed as "too short." The time does not count foreplay.
The researchers took a closer look at what the best length of time is for the optimal s.#.e.#.xual experience for both partners. They conducted a random survey of sample of Americans and Canadians. Dr. Corty and his team surveyed fifty members of the Society for s.#.e.#.x Therapy and Research in the U.S. and Canada. Thirty-four members, or 68 percent, responded, although some said the optimal time depended on the couple. Those surveyed stated that s.#.e.#.x lasting anything under 3 minutes was too short. Likewise, anything lasting longer than 13 minutes was too long. The findings of the study will be published in the May issue of the Journal of s.#.e.#.xual Medicine.
Prior research had shown that both men and women want foreplay and s.#.e.#.xual intercourse to last longer. Dr. Irwin Goldstein, editor of the Journal of s.#.e.#.xual Medicine, cited a four-week study of 1,500 couples in 2005 that found the median time for s.#.e.#.xual intercourse was 7.3 minutes. Marianne Brandon, a clinical psychologist and director of Wellminds Wellbodies in Annapolis, Md., said, “It's difficult for both older men and young men to make s.#.e.#.xual intercourse last much longer.”
